"Chief Sealth last known as Chief Seattle was a staunch friend of the white man. Though his influence the city of Seattle was saved during the Indian War of 1855 and '56. A wonder to the white man was his Old Man House, 3 blocks long and 15 ft. high, built at Agate Pass about 1816."
