Description

Haida canoe paddle carved from solid cedar piece. Decorated in traditional NW Coast formline painting of salmon head(?). Design is constructed of ovoid and "U" shapes of black-primary and red-secondary shapes. Not carved, painted on both sides. Illustrated in "The Indians of Puget Sound", edited by George Castile, where the caption says "Haida or Bella Bella". Post-Contact.
