Description

Raised at the center of the lid and the foot to form six trapezoidal facets around a honeycomb center on each section, the individual panels outlined in a lightly toned lacquer for effect, the gilt-rimmed interior containing an interior tray featuring a design of a stylized flower (surface wear, cracks), together with a kiri wood storage box. Accession File states: "Octagonal black lacquer container with lid and interior tray. Interior has floral design in gold. Exterior 'facets' divided by grey-brown bands bottom has kanji in gold." Early 20th Century.
