The container fully covered by a deep lid decorated with gold hiramaki-e (raised sprinkled metal and/or pigment) cranes and clouds against the red ground which covers the exterior surfaces, the interior displaying a plain dark brown lacquer coating. Small bits of green and brown incense found in box marked 11064-63. Incense and small lacquer box are both catalogued as 11064-63. Old object tag found inside red lacquer box, which reads 11064-63. Accession File states: "Small red lacquer box with cover, curved top, 3 herons and clouds in gold and black on lid. Black lacquer bottom, interior. Conditions fair-one shows cracks and chips at corners of lid (63); both show cracks where bottom meets side." Early to Mid 20th Century
