Description

Rectangular, dark red chest with a metal lock, two metal handles and three metal hinges. The outside, top of the lid has faint, black writing. The front of the lid has a long crack from the center where a piece of wood is missing to the corner where a piece of paper with black writing has been affixed. The remaining portion of the lock is "8" shaped with a scalloped plate behind the lower portion. Imprinted into the lock are the words: "- CORBIN CABINET LOCK CO - NEW BRITAIN, CONN. USA." The inside of the trunk is unlined. A wooden tray 3.0 cm high, 13.5 cm wide and 61.0 cm long rests across the length of the trunk. In the tray are two keys, the upper plate to the front lock and a chunk of wood probably from the front of the lid. On the inside of the lid is a piece of white paper with red writing.
