One medium size brass scale disc. Diameter measures 17.5 cm. Tarnishing on inside and outside of disk. Number 137 VD found on bottom of disc. Three small holes at the top rim of the disc. Knotted through all three holes are three twisted strands of a heavy twine. Three strands extend up towards the scale axis and converge in a knot. The scale axis is made of dark brown wood, tapers down to a dull point, has gold dots for markings along upper face of scale axis and measures 67.5 cm in length and 1.2 cm in width at thickest point. There are four holes in the scale axis, the first is 1.5 cm from the end and knotted through it is the same twine found strung through the disk, but this twine extends down 18 cm and has a hook tied onto its end knot. The hook is made of metal and has a diameter of about 3.5 cm. The three strings from the disk also converge at this point. Catalog lists-The Virgil Davin Collection states: "137 VD Med. Scale." Early 20th Century.
