Description

Long black mesh robe or gown with two hand-embroidered panels done in "invisible stitch." Panel design is of a crane. Bell button closures. side, front and back slits. Accession File states: "One black robe worn by officials over embroidered robe. Has a square design 11 x 10 in of gold and silver design. In back - has five gold buttons in front - Kimono sleeves - length of gown 44 inches." Qing Dynasty 1644-1911.
