Maxey Catalog Number
Square piece of cloth, cream in color with two embroidered borders. Outer border, 2.8 cm, has a brown motif of leaves and vines. The inner border, 2.4 cm, has a design in lighter brown of larger leaves. Borders are separated by a very thin solid brown line with small dots running along inner portion of line. Looks like in some places, on both the outer and inner borders, that the design is gone, perhaps washed off or faded. On back of cloth is a stamp that states: "21XX." Slip of paper found with item states: "2689 Cloth-woven by Manchu women-first manual labor Manchus had done in 400 yrs. made in 1912, Foo Chow China purchased by Miss Helen Pepoon. Mrs. H. S. Brode. June 28 1937."
