Maxey Catalog Number
One coin found, metal of some sort, cupped, dark brown/black in color. On concave side there is a figure, looks like a man, with some type of hat, and he appears to be holding something in both hands - possibly in the right a cross and the left a bible. The curved side has been tarnished and rubbed out to be sure what is there. Circle is irregular in shape. Accession File states: "Coins, cupped in shape. A rare old coin from Sardis (Home of Croecis). Gold still found here." Artifact note states: "7004. cupped coin. Sardis. Mary Ringer. June 15, 1934."
