Eight palm leaves from a temple book, 27.9 to 28.6 cm, with writing on both sides, attached by string through hole; One intact book with wooden cover, five palm leaves inside, decorated only on one side with some writing but mostly elaborate pictures scenes of two figures who separate the text in the middle of the leaf. Cover closes with black cord and two wooden nodules at the end, cord wraps around book to close. Cover measures, L 30, W 3.5 cm has two hole in the middle of the front and back where black cord runs through. Palm leaves measure, L 29.5, W 3.3 cm, each with hole in center of leaf and strung back to back with black cord. Book has old catalogue number 11064-82. Also found in box was what appears to be a newspaper clipping, and a smaller palm leaf book, loose, accordion fold, when folded it measures L 8, W 5.3 cm. Information on 3 x 5 note cards and ID tag read respectively: "Palm leaf books, Ceylon, 11064-54, 11064-55." "Temple book leaves on palm leaf. Pali script. Made with stylus, out in palm fiber, then rubbed over with ink. Kandy, Ceylon. Feb. 8, 1952, (Notes made by W.C. Eells at Kandy, Ceylon) 11064-54, 11064-55." "Palm leaf book. Note the intricately designed scenes." Accession File states: "Temple book leaves on palm leaf. Pali script. made with stylus, cut in palm leaf, then ribbed over with ink. Kandy, Ceylon, Feb. 8, 1952."
