Description

The bottom section designed with a scalloped foot and fitted with an enclosing cover, the interior surface of the lid decorated in red and gold lacquer with a pine motif, the other interior surfaces covered in a gold nashiji (metallic flecked) ground. Accession File states: "Black lacquer box, no design on outside, inside lid pine trees with roots, bottom scalloped." Meiji period.
