Description

Boldly decorated to the top with morning glory stalks rendered in black against a red lacquer ground with oil spot patterning, all framed in a black rim, the remaining surfaces also covered in black lacquer. Accession File states: "Large black and red box; black flowers and leaves on red background, two compartments. No longer 2 compartments, lid warped and split in three places along sides. Flower design on tip scratched." Mid 20th Century.
