Decorated with stylized hiramaki-e (raised sprinkled metal and/or pigment) cranes and pine branches against a subtle mura-nashiji (unevenly metallic flecked) ground, the interior surfaces covered in black lacquer with gilt edges. Accession File states: "3 tiered box with lid. Black ground with gold crane and pine motif and mura-nashiji (clouds) in gold. Gold edges and black interior. Slight scratches on surfaces, small crack 1/2 the way down long side." Meiji period.
