Featuring an inlaid mother-of-pearl dragon surrounded by yellow, red, and green flames set in a square reserve bordered by a band of ruyi (scepters) lappets, all against a cracked black lacquer ground Accession File states: "11064- 62 Shallow box w/ diagonal design in pearl inlay. Raised on top and bottom. Contains either rocks or incense. 2 3/8" x 2 3/8" 2 1 " Walter C. Eells See Reverse." Incense box (kogo) w/ lid. Lid inlaid with mother of pearl dragon design, accented w/ red & yellow pigment. Contains 12 pieces of incense in various shapes and colors." Artifact Note states: "BLACK LACQUERED BOX INLAYED MOTHER OF PEARL DRAGON." Circa 1900.
