Description

The lid featuring a central circular reserve in creamy yellow lacquer containing a single lavender camellia blossom on a green leafy stem, the lid rim edged in a matching creamy yellow band filled with alternating yellow crests and lavender lappets, the remaining exterior surfaces lacquered shiny black, while the interior surfaces display a brown lacquer coating and a silk lining. Accession File states: "Lacquer box with lid, black ground with tan circle in center containing flower motif (camillia?, plum blossom?). Stylized bird crest on band encircling upper edge of box. Silk lined, brown lacquer inside of lid." Mid 20th Century.
