Description

Hat cord from World War I. Black and gold weave, round, doubled over. Two end tassels with black knobs measuring 1.1 cm in length and 1.5 cm in width and soled pieces that are gold and black horizontally stripped; these two combined measure 3 cm in length. To hold cord together in circular custom, there is a piece of cardboard that the rope goes through, about 2.1 cm in length and 1.5 cm in width; cardboard is covered in black and gold weaving, but beginning to fray at ends; written on cardboard in white ink is ""D 38"". Moving the ropes back and for through this piece will cause the circle to grow larger or smaller.
