French needle bayonet of World War I period. Light colored steel handle with darker metal body. Wider towards the handle and tapers off into a round ball point end. This bayonet was the last of the French ""sword-type"" bayonets and was only used in the early years of WWI. It was manufactured to fit the French Model 1874 ""Gras"" Infantry Rifle.
