Description

Unbroken pestle made of light grey stone with large white inclusions, tapering from smallest at top to largest at bottom, no decoration. Top slightly rounded, bottom flat. The entire pestle is slightly pitted. Wear on the bottom indicates use. A few flakes are missing from around the bottom. Accession File states: "5858 Stone Implements, Indian, Walla Walla Co. S.W. of Riparia along Snake River. Sheffler S Sta. 5 pieces - Mortar, 2 pestles, 2 hammer stones. Purch. Clarence McBeth Jan. 24, 1930." Donor File states: "5858 Stone Implements. Indian, Walla Walla Co. S.W. of Riporia (sic) along Snake R., Sheffler Sta. 5 pieces - Mortar, 2 pestles, 2 hammer stones."
