Description

Stone hammer, made of oval shaped stone attached to a long handle covered with hide and sewn together with thread the length of the handle. A piece of wire looped over the stone to reinforce the attachment of the stone to the handle. Tag states: "Richard Springer loan, Sioux Ind. Jan 7, 1932." Accession File states: "6598 Hammer Stone and Handle, Sioux Indians-Loan-Richard Springer, Jan. 7, 1932". Donor File states: "6598 LOAN (Richard Springer) Hammer Stone and Handle, Sioux Indians".
