Description

Long, thin rounded artifact made from smooth, light brown stone tapering narrower toward both ends. In the center, on one side, is a sloped groove 2.3 cm wide and 0.5 cm deep. Some dark grey patches are very smooth. Accession File states: "5858 Stone Implements, Indian, Walla Walla Co. S.W. of Riparia along Snake River. Sheffler S Sta. 5 pieces - Mortar, 2 pestles, 2 hammer stones. Purch. Clarence McBeth Jan. 24, 1930." Donor File states: "5858 Stone Implements. Indian, Walla Walla Co. S.W. of Riporia (sic) along Snake R., Sheffler Sta. 5 pieces - Mortar, 2 pestles, 2 hammer stones."
