The blade is marked at the top "ESK106" on white-out. The sheath is made of two pieces of wood, slightly "T" shaped with slight ornamentation to the top and bottom. The sheath is bound together with string near the top and bottom. The bottom string may be original. The top string is nearly certainly a later addition to keep the pieces together. The purse is 4.5 cm high, 5.5 cm long and 1.5 cm wide. It has a lid attached by a black cord which runs through both sides of lid and purse and is knotted to the long, thin container with a 1.3 diameter round bead between the containers. Possibly this artifact, Catalogue List - David C. Graham Collection states: "No Number Wooden fan case. Made of bamboo or other light wood. Two pieces connected by cord and bead. Foot binding was generally practiced by wealthy families because their daughters and wives were not expected to work. Possibly associated with WHIT-G-006. Artifact notes state: "Shoes for bound feet - Many were much smaller than these. Christians did not bind the feet of their girls. The practice has been outlawed since the Revolution."
