Maxey Catalog Number

WHIT-E-0042

Description

Large, rectangular basket. Could be of the "stiff" kind that Eells described. Design is of stripes: very dark and light pieces of grass or bark are sewn over the base weave of the basket to form checkered lines, six stitches wide from top to bottom; design circles the basket. The basket is discolored and has handles broken off. It also has some fraying on design areas. Post-Contact.
