Tortoise shell box. Hinged lid, curved, in shell, held by two brass round balls and bits onto a small brass protrusion. Inside are two gold colored hinges-no signs of tarnish, and one metal lid brace to the left, the right one is missing. Minimal chipping around edges of bottom and lid. Tortoise shell box comes in a purple velvet box. The interior of the upper lid reads: "Y.Yezaki, Fine Art Tortoise-Shell Ware, Material Guaranteed, Imauwono-machi, Nagasaki, Japan." 3 x 5 note card found inside Tortoise shell box states: "Tortoise shell box from Nagasaki 11064-43." Accession File states: "Tortoise shell box from Nagasaki. Hinged lid, clasp. Kept in velvet covered presentation box with 'Y.Yezaki Fine Art Tortoise-Shell Ware...' on interior of lid. Condition good-gold colored metal lid brace from interior box missing, small chips otherwise." 20th century.
