Bamboo vase, finely carved. Design is done in traditional landscape style of bamboo and ancient tree forest and rocks, and includes several clusters of Chinese scholars gathered in open-air buildings or outside. Graham declared it "...the finest bamboo carving I have seen." Has own base and top, diameter of 7 cm. Vase has a hole in it where base has a protruding stem that fits into vase. Base and top are not made of bamboo, but of a dark wood, probably cherry wood. It has one large crack on the side and a few small ones. Accession File states: "Chinese vase or container, carved of bamboo, ca. Middle Manchu dynasty-1875."
