The footed box constructed with an overhanging cover also with an elevated ridge to the top which serves as a foot when lifted off and turned over, the top decorated with a bold design of an upper branch of a flowering prunus tree, with scattered loose blossoms and petals distributed over the remaining surfaces, the design executed in gold hiramaki-e (raised sprinkled metal and pigment) and takamaki-e (heavy relief metal and pigment) against the solid orange ground, the interior surfaces coated in black lacquer. Old catalogue number found inside which reads 11064-76. Accession File states: "Orange lacquer box, rectangular ridge on lid and bottom, blossoming tree in gold on lid, flowers on side." Early to Mid 20th Century.
