Title

Ankle bands

Description

Two Chinese silk ankle bands, woven in a diamond design. 3.5 cm from both ends are four white strips, two in pairs, and at ends of bands, sting has been gathered and braided-then used for ties 8.5 cm in length. One of the bands is marked with a sticker that reads 4745, and another sticker that reads 5997/B240. The band with stickers is torn and what looks like possible moth damage. Original black and white color have faded and become dirty, appearing now as if gray and dark green in color. Ankle bands edged in small band of vertical lines. Accession File states: "Ankle bands of modern Chinese silk suit. Used to bind trouser legs smoothly at ankles. Woven black and white diamond design."
