Axe

Description

Axe with an irregular shaped blade. The top of blade is curved upwards and goes back to a point. From this point the blade follows down to the wooden handle. From the handle the blade is straight and then curves up and outward. There are many patches of rust on the blade, especially on the edges. The handle is made of smooth wood; the upper 4.9 cm of handle is metal and below that are two braided bamboo strips about each about 1.5 cm in length. Display tag found with item states: "Aliwa from Kalinga tribe. This is a weapon and also a working axe, used in clearing jungle, building houses, etc. Note modification of blade."
